New Veterans Clinic Comes to Central Oregon

VA Hold Grand Opening of New Bend Veterans Clinic.

This past Wednesday (January 30,2013), I had the privilege and honor to be invited to the VA’s Grand Opening and Dedication of the Bend Community Based Outpatient Clinic.  This represents a giant step forward  in the VA’s pledge to increase the level of services to our veterans in the Central Oregon area. The VA was helped in there efforts with significant help from Senators Wyden and Merkley and Congressman Greg Walden.

2650 NE Courtney Drive in Bend, OR

For a number of years now the veterans of Central Oregon, and there’s a lot of them, have been faced with a small clinic with limited staff and services to rely on for their health care.  The old clinic at 2115 NE Wyatt Ct. had only about 10,000 square feet of space and very limited services.

This new Veterans CBO Clinic, at, 2650 NE Courtney Drive in Bend will have extended services that include Audiology and Physical Therapy, Eye Care, Podiatry, Dermatology and a resident pharmacist. Tele-health is also expanded. Tele-Health will provide video conferencing and video appointments for Veterans. where veterans can deal with compensation and pension, rural mental health, Cardiology, Move program, PTSD counseling, speech and pathology, & nutrition issues. An additional Program

Other services include  Urology, Orthopedic, Sleep Studies, Hand Clinic and a walk in clinic on Wednesdays that will provide Housing Vouchers (HUD/VASH) for homeless veterans who qualify.

It was a stirring event from the invocation , and the pledge of allegiance all the way to the ribbon cutting.
